Abstract. During the interwar period, a great emphasis was laid on the need to define the role and place of doctors in Romanian society. In order to achieve the general target regarding the mission of medical care, a clear set of rules had to be established. These rules were meant to distinguish the role and social status of the doctors at the time, in order to increase popular awareness of the fact that medical services were at their disposal at any given time. Thus, the strict compliance with the rules of conduct at the time was meant to increase people’s trust in the medical activity. Within this framework, the aim of this paper is to analyze the disciplinary cases involving the doctors from the county of Sălaj during the interwar period.
