Aims and scope

The Romanian Journal of Population Studies is an interdisciplinary publication that welcomes contributions from a broad range of population studies, spanning from social history to contemporary demographic realities. We invite research that examines key processes such as demographic transition, industrialization, modernization, and medicalization, as well as the lived experiences of individuals and communities. Additionally, the journal encourages discussions on contemporary demographic phenomena and their connections to broader societal contexts.

We primarily seek to publish empirically grounded research articles employing quantitative or qualitative methodologies, alongside theoretical and methodological papers, as well as book reviews.

While the journal focuses on past and present demographic realities in Romania and Central-Eastern Europe, we welcome contributions from scholars worldwide.

The Romanian Journal of Population Studies is published twice a year by the Centre for Population Studies at Babeș-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Starting with Volume XVIII (2024), the journal is open access and published exclusevely online.
